Enyeama had been tipped to become the new captain of Nigeria after Joseph Yobo retired from international football, but the 31-year-old is contemplating his next step.
“It is a big honour to wear the [captain’s] armband for the national team,” Enyeama told SuperSport.
“But at some point you need to say, ‘okay I take some years off, maybe I take some months off, maybe I call it quits’. I will sit down with my wife and decide what to do next.
“Maybe it was my last game."
Nigeria went down 2-0 to France in Brasilia, with a Paul Pogba header and a Yobo own goal in injury time clinching victory for the 1998 champions
